NYC To Test Text Line for Mental Health Help

The Mental Health Association of New York City and the city's health department is testing a pilot program called "NYC Teen Text" at 10 New York public high schools, with plans to expand, that will allow students to text for help with mental health issues.

Many teenagers put off getting, or completely decline mental help, but if help was only a few sentences away on a cell phone, they may be more inclined to reach out.

New York City's Mayor Bill de Blasio' s daughter Chiara has spoken about her issue with mental health and said, "I know from personal experience that reaching out when you're in pain can be the turning point – the first step on the road to recovery." Read more about the program at the link here.
